Summer Camps

ASTA-OK Summer Music Camp 2020

Join us August 5-8th, 2020 at the UCO School of Music for the ASTA-OK Summer Music Camp!

The Oklahoma Chapter of the American String Teacher Association invites all violin, viola, cello, and bass students in their 1st - 4th year of string instruction for a fun, few days of music! Campers will participate in large group orchestra and chamber rehearsals, sectionals, performances, and other music related events!

Campers are placed in a small chamber music ensemble and a large string orchestra ensemble based on experience. Campers receive instruction from highly qualified string instructors! Students must have at least one year of string instruction to participate (instructor recommendation required on application) and be age 15 or under.

**Please Note: Currently, there are no camp cancellations or postponements due to COVID 19. However, this could change depending on official orders from the government or university. We request campers to register for camp, but refrain from submitting payment until July 15th. We will notify campers immediately regarding any changes or postponements of camp. We hope everyone is staying safe and well! We hope to see all campers on August 5th - 8th!

Camp Details:

Where: UCO School of Music

When: Wednesday, August 5th - Saturday, August 8th, 2020

Rehearsals & Activities: Campers will rehearse in small chamber ensembles, large group string orchestra ensembles, sectionals, and participate in special music activities from local musicians and performers! Camp meets daily from 9am - 4pm with the exception of Saturday (Aug. 8th). On Saturday, August 8th, students will meet from 9 - 10:30 am for their final rehearsal, then have their finale concert at 11am!

Performances: Chamber Music Recital - Friday, August 7th at 4pm

Orchestra Concert Finale - Saturday, August 8th at 11am

Who: Violin, viola, cello, and bass students (ages 15 and under) in 1st - 4th years of instruction

*Must have at least one year of string instruction and recommendation of teacher to participate

Cost: $150 per student (cost includes t-shirt, instructor pay, and participation fees); lunch not included in fees. Students will need to bring $10 for lunch to purchase from UCO Student Center or bring a sack lunch.
